Choosing a floor colour in Dubai light
The sample looked perfect in the showroom. Here is how to make sure it looks that way at home.

The light is stronger than you think
Dubai daylight is intense and blue-white at midday, warm at dusk. A pale grey that reads calm under showroom lights can look cold at noon; a warm oak can go orange at sunset. Take the sample home.
Test it in three lights
Morning by the window, afternoon sun, and at night under your own lamps. Lay it on the floor, not against the wall; put a cushion and a piece of your curtain beside it.
Dust shows on dark
Fine sand settles daily. Dark, glossy floors show it within hours; pale, matt, textured ones hide it for days. Mid-tones with grain variation are the most forgiving.
Direction and width
Planks running toward the window lengthen a room; across it, widen it. Wide boards calm a large room; narrow boards or a pattern give a small room energy.
